Cycling along Durban’s beachfront…

Great view from Durban’s stadium
02.07.2014 | I was four years late to meet the German soccer team for the Worldcup here but I enjoyed my time at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban today. The little tour included the President’s suite as well as the team’s room. The cable car brought me up to the arch of the stadium where I had a beautiful view over city and ocean.
African Wild Dogs
02.07.2014 | According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) the African wild dog is one of the world’s most endangered mammals. And it is one of the species Wildlife ACT focuses on in their monitoring efforts. Before my volunteering time I haven’t known anything about wild dogs but with Wildlife ACT I learned a bit about these animals that are scientifically called Lycaon Pictus.
Good-bye St. Lucia! Hello Durban!
30.06.2014 | Dear St. Lucia, I love your beach! I have met some of your hippos in Lake St. Lucia, but luckily not in your streets where they are said to graze at night. Thank you to all who have made my stay so pleasurable…
Busy in the bush: How we tracked the animals
29.06.2014 | The sessions to monitor the radio-collared animals as a volunteer with Wildlife ACT take place around sunrise (about 5.30-10.30h) and sunset (about 16.30-20.30h). As it is pretty cold on the back of an open vehicle in the early morning and after sunset, we first had to make sure that we were wrapped in sufficient layers of clothing to keep us warm enough. For me, the six layers you can see in the photo were fine.
